Stage 1Place a 1GHz laptop on a flat surface.
Stage 2Place foil over the laptop - using enough to ensure that the juices from the meat don't get into the vents. We suggest that the bacon is placed on the shiny side of the foil as it looks more appetizing.
We have used unsmoked premium streaky bacon from M&S
Stage 3Add another layer of foil (shiny side down) and then cover with a 1.25GHz PowerBook. The meat will be ready to eat in less than 3 hours - so now may be a good time to butter the bread. Timing is important. We've improved the timing equipment since the egg experiment. Digital timers are OK, but stuff just seems to taste better with analogue.
After 30 minutes the bacon is changing colour
After 40 minutes the bacon is nearly ready to enjoy with some thick-sliced white bread...
After 2 hours and 47 minutes the cooking is complete.
If you ever find yourself stranded with two laptops and a pack of bacon, you won't be going hungry! Next week we'll tackle a slow cook casserole that you can fit inside a G5 (single processor only). :-) [originally published in 2005] |
